“If God had granted all the silly prayers I’ve made in my life, where should I be now?” ~ C.S. Lewis
There’s part of the First Presbyterian church that I hardly ever notice in the back sanctuary until the lights are lowered. Light from the lobby shines through the glass, and last night, a young man was sitting alone with his Bach songbook, following the concerto’s every note. His silhouette was beautiful set to music, his devotion and study sublime. Sometimes I wish I had that much dedication to a single discipline. Alas, I hold many interests that pull me in all directions. I never get bored, though, that’s for sure. ADDENDUM: Marlon tells me this is Houston Tyrell, a rising tenor star studying under Dr. Everett McCorvey.
