“If I ever find myself alone and feel a pang of fear that I have been cast aside and removed from the world, I can remember that it is not even possible for me to be completely alone. I am inextricably woven into an ever-changing web of connections.” ~ Lauren Krauze

White Christmas 2020

This will go down as the strangest Christmas of our lifetimes I’m sure, but surprisingly, Christmas Eve turned out to be pretty awesome for me. Not only did it snow – hello rare White Christmas – but I was showered with gifts of kindness all day long. From the spot on post-it notes and utterly hilarious Bob Ross Bobblehead (I mean, how can any gift top that, thank you Stacy) to the homemade surprise gifts from Mark and Erin and the super surprise bear in the outhouse from Larry in Houston, they were sandwiched between Chinese food for lunch and the First Presbyterian Christmas Eve virtual service with my folks from the safety of their home. We three sang together, lit our candles, took communion, and gave thanks for being together for a 55th Christmas. Tonight, the house is filled with the smell of baking pies while a sleepy white dog and fat black cat lounge nearby. I am filled with more gratitude than I can express. I know this is a very, very hard Christmas for so many people this year, more than usual, and the only thing that would make my day better would be if some of the goodness bestowed on me could find its way to them, whoever, wherever they are. Hear me, Santa?

  1. Thank you for spending Christmas Eve with us and sharing the worship of Jesus’ birth and the partaking of communion together (First Presbyterian Church). We have been so blessed this year (2020) and so thankful that dad and I were chosen by Him to be your parents. We love you more than life forever and ever.
