“Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.” ~ Auguste Rodin
There’s a Waffle House very near my place. Stacy and I go there from time to time, and so it was on the morning of Christmas Eve. It used to be that we had dinner on Christmas Eve, but more and more restaurants are closing before the dining hour. So, this year we decided to start a new tradition. And whom better to hold tradition than Waffle House? I adore this place. Actually, I love all Waffle Houses, but I especially love this one. The waitresses are nice, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I think Stacy said it best when she said it harkens back to a time of the 1940’s and 50’s. A time when strangers gathered close in a greasy spoon to share a meal without speaking a word to one another in silent camaraderie. It is the kind of place that leaves you smelling of bacon and picking grits from your teeth. Where bikers eat beside church goers, and the waitresses dress head to toe as elves on Christmas Eve. It’s the brilliant Christmas Eve tradition.
