I have only a few Christmas ornaments, mostly because I haven’t had a tree until this year. Cats: they pretty much destroy or prevent Christmas trees. In my case it’s been the latter. The majority of ornaments have been given to me over the years; each special for a reason. There are, however, two I bought myself: This adorable Hillbilly Santa couple handmade by folk artist and friend Bonita Skaggs-Parsons. I bought them three years ago, and for the first time since I’ve had Lilly (thank you Wally), I found a little tree she wouldn’t destroy and brought out the ornaments. The tree was too small to support the weight of most of them, but they made a festive display around its base. Mr. and Mrs. Hillbilly Santa made the season bright.
