Kiss a lover/ Dance a measure/ Find your name/ And buried treasure.
Face your life/ Its pain/ Its pleasure/ Leave no path untaken.

It’s Fat Tuesday. Did I have King Cake and pancakes? No. Stacy Yelton and me, we had Big Boys and Fudge Cake. Okay, I had a Big Boy and fudge cake, she had a tuna melt and coconut creme pie. Though this may not be the traditional Fat Tuesday meal, it was, nevertheless, rich and fatty, sans plastic baby in the cake. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, which I have never officially observed. It might be a cool time to start. I have so much to be thankful for that the absence of rich foods – or something else – for 40 days seems the least I could do to be conscious of, and thankful for, my many, many blessings. Trouble is, I’ve been on such a great diet that it’s hard for me to actually give up something rich or fatty. I don’t usually eat Big Boys and Fudge Cake anymore. I eat lettuce and fish, and nothing says “Lent” like lettuce and fish. So, what’s left? I can’t give up smoking, I did that more than 12 years ago. I go months at a stretch without alcohol. I don’t do drugs. I’m not addicted to porn or any other vice. I suppose I could give up driving, and walk to work. But that means getting up even earlier, and that’s against my religion.
