Continuing my research into Central Christian Church caused me to grab my camera and swing by after work today. I couldn’t go in, but I could get a much better look at the details outside. The dark stones were brought in from Massachusettes, and the marble pilasters, oye, I don’t know what they were thinking. Maybe they liked pink tones…I am not a fan of pink marble, maybe because I’ve spent too many years in King Library with its pink marble floors.
The structure is incredibly rich in detail, so much so that an hour wouldn’t be long enough to discover and document it all. The doors alone are intriguing. This particular door has a lot of Jewish iconography. Mom was excited by yesterday’s post, so don’t be surprised if we go to service there at some point soon.
