through the woods
Ah, this river. Still so small in Morgan County. The head waters aren’t far away in Magoffin County. Some of my earliest memories are of Licking River. Before I could walk, Dad used to take me fishing not too far from here. I was content to sit on the bank and watch him. That’s where I saw my first Dragonfly. I’ve loved them ever since. Such intense creatures. The smell of the river stays with you a lifetime, at least it has for me, kind of like the memories of me and dad on the muddy bank. There’s no place like home.
