“What the world really needs is more love and less paperwork.” ~ Pearl Bailey

brrrrrr

Sure, I could pull out the big camera and go outside for better photos, but I doubt any of them would look quite as cold as this crappy photo through the morning kitchen window. You can still see the droopy fir tree and sleet, snow, and ice just fine. Late last night, just after I turned off the bedroom light, I took one last look out the window to see how bad things had gotten when something on the window sill caught my eye. It was a small screech owl doing his best to get out of the pelting sleet. I was so close to him I could have picked him up if not for the windowpane. Alas, he flew away eventually. He felt like someone was watching him I guess. He was right. Meanwhile, the University closed campus today, so the fur babies and I stayed inside where it was warm and did lots of necessary, yet somewhat neglected, work of both a professional and personal nature. Now, we prepare for the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics still warm and cozy in a house that never lost power. Thanks again to KU for keeping the trees properly trimmed. I’ve got my fingers crossed my screech owl comes back tonight. He was so small and adorable.
