“Do more things that make you forget to check your phone.” ~ Unknown
I LOVE today’s quote. I think I’ll make it my mantra for the year, and I’m off to a good start. I am resting. I am reading – Judy loaned me her copy of Silas House’s Dead Man Blues mystery, and I read nearly half of it today. I am playing some music (more on that later). And I keep seeing things from childhood, like the incredible strawberry-and-vanilla marshmallows Stacy found at Kroger last week. She loved them, too, can you tell? Gosh, the strawberry marshmallows were incredible treats as a kid. I was transported to Mamaw Adams’ kitchen, my little summer hands reaching in the bag for another and then another. A few days before that, when Shero and I stopped to visit briefly with BFF Martha Conley, she had a rare bar of Camay soap sitting on her table. I can’t tell you the last time I saw a bar of Camay. Everything old is new again? Good and bad, that seems to be a theme in America lately. I am fine with the good things of old, and I’ll keep looking for them everywhere I go. There’s very little a warm memory and a strawberry marshmallow can’t fix.
