“I hope you feel pretty and your coffee tastes good today.” ~ Unknown

the nutty sister

Ya’ll first met Regina Herbolt about two years ago, but I doubt I conveyed just how special she is in that post. Regina is from a large family and grew up on the family farm near Bethel, Ohio. She and Kelly were BFFs in high school (Bethel Tate), and I think Kelly used to work tobacco with Regina and her family. They and Stacy also used to go to Myrtle Beach together during off-peak tobacco season, of course. Best of all, Regina is how Kelly met Craig. I believe Regina dated him first; now there’s a sitcom. So, now, you’re up to date for those of you with an outhouse genealogy card.

and beautiful sister

What you may not know about Regina is how energetic, witty, hilarious, and emotionally strong she is. After Kelly and Craig married and moved to St Louis, Regina’s life continued in Ohio and Kentucky, and lord knows where else. She had adventures. She made loads of friends everywhere she went because I doubt she has ever met a stranger, and who wouldn’t want to be friends with such an outgoing soul? For example, after dinner last night at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse (my virgin voyage), on our way out of the packed restaurant, she stopped at a table of six handsome young men and started a conversation. Everybody was laughing by the time she finished. She has a sweet son named Rob, who made Regina a grandmother last year. And she has been a Godsend to Kelly, who, after moving back to Kentucky, has experienced one tragedy after another. Regina has been right there to help in any way she can, even if it was just to be present and ask a table full of men where they’d been before going to supper. We should all be so lucky to have a friend like Regina.

and silly sister

Stacy told me about Regina before I met her and talked about how much she loves and respects her. Once I met Regina, I understood why. She is concerned about everyone and genuinely wants to see people happy. Yesterday was Corinne’s first meeting with Regina, and I dare say, the two of them together had me LOLing a lot because Corinne is wicked funny all on her own. It just wouldn’t do for me to be around the two of them often because I’d keep Depends in business by myself.

and sister’s sister

Naturally, Regina is creative as all get out, and part of her arsenal is as a photographer (lots of weddings and portraits). When I was struggling with my new-to-me Sony yesterday, here came Regina to the rescue, making me feel not quite so stupid and inept (the menu on this camera is crap, and I’d been warned about that – boy howdy, were they right!). We laughed as she posed and the silly camera antics started (Kelly’s photo below). Ya’ll, between the quality of the images coming off this camera and yesterday’s birthday adventure, it will take no time for me to get used to retirement. More adventures, more photos, more Regina, Kelly, Stacy, and Corinne, more happiness – bring it on.
