“The arts are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow.” ~ Kurt Vonnegut

The University, in a rare move, cancelled classes and closed campus ahead of the storm set to hit us overnight. As the day went along the accumulation prediction rose. Last I heard we’re expected to get between 8″ and 16″ inches of wet powder. Knowing I don’t have to get up tomorrow made my busy schedule all the better. I started the day with a great meeting of the minds for an upcoming conference followed by an exciting visit to ArtsPlace for a soon surprise with friend and painter Lori-Lyn Hurley. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch afterward. Then I whizzed back at work where I finished the day with great conversations with the boss, and the boss’s boss, and a gifted artist and colleague, Arwen Donahue. When it was time to leave Stacy the snow gnome appeared at my door, ready to brave the wind and cold. We set off for home, pantry loaded and ready for the storm. I love snow days as much as an adult as I did when I was a kid.
