Last Saturday, on mom’s birthday, we were supposed to get just a dusting of snow. Instead, we awoke to 5″+. It made for a gorgeous walk in the snow with Wally.

I had awakened first at 3am to discover most of the accumulation had already landed. Wally needed out, so we took a little walk. It was quiet, like only the earth can be when blanketed with snow, especially at 3am. There’s something pure about snow, even in the city. I thought I’d be bummed to have a dog I had to walk in winter, but it turns out that I actually enjoy it. It was particularly enjoyable Saturday. It was a day of joy that has sustained me into the week.
