I stopped by the President’s yard on Friday to admire the resilient little koi fish. No matter how cold it gets, they just keep swimming, well, until they freeze. I don’t think they can actually survive being frozen like, say, alligators I’ve seen recently in the news who pop their noses above the water line and then freeze in place. They’re still alive; they just don’t move. I think you have to work to keep your pond koi living in freezing temps, and if that’s true, kudos to the President’s landscapers for a job well done. It is a lovely pond in warm weather and a delightful place to have lunch in plain air.
