I got a package in my mailbox a couple of days ago. I hadn’t ordered anything, but it was addressed to me. When I opened it, I found this incredible book on writing by our National Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo, including a sweet birthday wish from Okie BFFs Barb Pleasted and Pam Thuman. The following day, I got another package in the mail, and again, I had not ordered anything. I opened the package to find this super-hard-to-find book by author, teacher, and friend Normandie Ellis whom you met in early 2016. BFF Deb Chenault sent it for my birthday. Earlier in the day, not-rental sister Kelly had given me a box of highly desirable Servatii birthday cookies. Then, today, Mom gave me a birthday card with a gift enclosed. Ya’ll, my birthday isn’t until Monday the 8th, yet all these beautiful human beings in my circle thought of me, and know me so well they gave me books and cookies. I truly don’t know what I did to deserve such thoughtful, loving people but I am sure grateful for them.
