“I prefer the company of happy people who are believers in magic…and of magical people who are believers in happy.” ~ Unknown

good King Leo (snapseed)

If you’ve followed the outhouse for any appreciable time you know my boy Leo lost his eye to cancer on February 22, 2018. He has outlived his life expectancy by more than a year because of the ingenious care he has gotten from Dr. Millie Hardigree at Southland Veterinary Hospital. To say I’m grateful would be an understatement, but Leo has been in noticeable decline over the last week. You may notice the spot in his eye. That is a spot of cancer just like the one that grew until we had to remove his beautiful eye. Unfortunately, that’s not the tumor pressing into his soft pallet. That is the demon we cannot fix. Today, Aunt Millie and I discussed what to expect as he nears his soon end. The amazing thing about Leo is that, no matter how bad he feels, he purrs when I pick him up. He’s a great example of living every day as best you can, without complaint, and showing love to your people. I’m surrounded by people and pet alike who behave as beacons of goodness and light in what often feels like a very dark world. I aspire to be as bright and shining as they when it is my turn. Until then, I’m going to soak up as much of their magic as I can.
