“Sacrifice of those who have worked to protect and perpetuate some level of freedom. That often includes soldiers who are, or have spent a portion of their lives protecting our country. God bless the veterans. But it also includes those who have stood up to power here in our own country and said “Enough is enough.” The notion of freedom is empty if it only includes those in power, those who are privileged. That fellow who lived and loved a long time ago (they called him Jesus) talked often about “the least of these.” I believe he was talking about those with no power. Those with no voice. Those who lived in the shadows, in the margins. When we celebrate freedom, please don’t forget those who are not free. They are our sisters and our brothers.” ~ Rev. Ken Bailey
