I haven’t talked about Mission San Juan yet. Based on personal taste alone, aesthetically it was my least favourite of the four, but it has several exciting components. For instance, the Stations of the Cross are buried along the wall leading from the quarters to the chapel. I was not raised Catholic, and the Stations of the Cross was a new concept when I learned about it from an Episcopalian. If you aren’t familiar with the devotional either, you can read more about it here. Now that I know what it is, I seem to notice the Stations at every church that observes the ritual.
