I got to see some folks I hadn’t seen in a long, long time at last week’s artist reception. I didn’t get pictures of everyone, but I did manage to get photos of two of my favorite people in the world: John Lumagui (below) and Carolyn “Big C” Oldfield (top, center). I was excited to learn John’s making new music, and it meant so much to me that he could make it down to visit, short as it was. Carolyn Oldfield is a hoot and a half, and I adore her beyond all telling. I met her adult children, not having seen them since they were little. Her daughter, Lillian, loved dinosaurs when she was little. I asked if she still likes them, and surprisingly, she said yes! Then we started talking about our FFA band and our trip to Europe when we were teenagers. The night was way too short, but oh, the short time was better than no time at all. I wouldn’t take anything for that.
