“You’re not rich until you have things money can’t buy.” ~ Garth Brooks

I spent most of my lunch hour visiting with dad at the VA. He spent most of the time sleeping, and that’s a good thing. This is the first time he’s been hospitalized since Covid that we can go see him. All the other times, and I’ve lost count of how many times there have been in the last three years; we were prevented from going up on the floors because of the virus. For those unfamiliar with UK’s campus, the Cooper VA hospital is beside UK Chandler Med Center, and the Med Center is on campus. I take the road less travelled from my office to the VA, and I pass buildings that few ever see, like the Dimock Animal Pathology building. I wish I knew more about it than what I can see. It was built in 1942, but that’s all I know of its history. There are several small brick buildings in this area that, when taken together, form a small chapter of what the UK campus must once have looked like. It’s sweet. I much prefer the small, quaint atmosphere.
