girl gang takes Midway

Midway used to have a delightful arts festival called Fransisco’s Farm. Held on the campus of Midway University, amid a lush canopy of trees, there were exceptional artists and craftspeople. At it’s most crowded, it didn’t feel crowded, and everyone still had the opportunity to see the work. This year, they transitioned the two-day festival to downtown Midway and changed its name to Midway Bourbon and Blues Festival. Stacy and I met up with the northern delegation, sister Kelly and BFF Regina. We had a fabulous meal at our favorite Don Jockey (seriously delicious Mexican cuisine), then perambulated about. The threat of severe storms had put a damper on festivities. Some artists and vendors only worked Saturday; as a result, leaving gaps along the street. The remaining artwork was not what it was when it went by Fransisco’s Farm, and the music didn’t quite work. Mind you, we four had a wonderful time together – it did my heart good to see them – but the festival was wanting. Still, my soul sisters in beloved Midway could never leave me wanting, except for more good times with them.
