“Nothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh, and to abandon oneself, to be light. Tragedy is the most ridiculous thing.” ~ Frida Kahlo
Before yesterday’s ball game, Stacy and I met Kelly and Regina in Midway for the Blues and Bourbon festival. Little did we know we’d be making a new friend in Regina’s utterly adorable granddaughter, Riley. I don’t ordinarily take to children, but this little girl was nothing but pure light. She loved Stacy, and it was mutual. Riley is only two, but she looks as if she’s four, even five, and she’s already very articulate. We wandered into a shop that was hosting a photo shoot, i.e., selfies, with rescued wolf pups. At only three months old, they understood Riley implicitly. In fact, the black wolf eventually lay down behind her and napped. After our delicious lunch at Don Jockey, the best Mexican joint in central Kentucky IMO, Gigi Regina bought Riley plenty of super fun toys. Then, after a couple of hours in the scorching sun, she was ready for a nap. I think we were all ready for a nap. If this gathering of loved ones was all that had happened yesterday, it would have been a stellar day. I’m looking forward to more time with my sister, Kel, her BFF, Regina, and her mini me Riley (and Stacy, always). Adventures and more toys (and wolves) await us.
