work

You wouldn’t think that six little boxes would take two people five days to sort out, but it sure did. They came to us in four banker boxes. Some are audio, some are video, and all of them have a CD or DVD backup. Every cassette and MiniDV, and their cases, has to be marked with an accession number, but only after the accession records have been manually created. The CDs and DVDs have to be ripped, and those digital files have to match all the cassettes/miniDVs and CD/DVDs and be assigned the corresponding accession numbers. The same goes for the transcripts. Did I mention the digital files ripped from the CD/DVDs were often multiple interviews that had to be split to correspond with the dates on the cassette/miniDVs? It’s a lot of work, but what a beautiful thing when it’s all done. Now, researchers can find and access the work. Mission accomplished.
