“I am out with lanterns looking for myself.” Emily Dickinson

smoke

I wish I could have gotten out of town or gotten high enough in a building to snap a photo of what today really looked like. The color of the sky in this photo is as close as I could get. This is going down as the summer of Canadian Smoke. We had smoke from previous fires drop down into Kentucky earlier this summer, but today has been the worst so far. Visibility in Lexington was reduced from ten to two miles. Warnings were issued for everyone, especially those with lung ailments, as particulate matter was present. It was much worse this afternoon than this morning. When I left the office, I could smell the smoke. That’s some serious smoke. I really feel for our Canadian neighbors, and I feel horrible for the planet. She’s burning up. Our photos are going to look like we live on Mars at this rate.
