Shero and Buc-ee

This was an unexpected much-needed happy day. Most of it was spent in class with my young Appalachian friends, and then I had to bust a move to get to Berea in time to pick up my KY Guild artwork. It has taken over a month to find time to get there, but gosh, it was a gorgeous day for a drive. It was worth the wait. I gathered Shero so she could have a nice afternoon in the sun, and off we went. We passed Buc-ee’s on the way down, and Mom’s ears picked up, being she was a Buc-ee’s virgin. But no more. We decided to hit Buc-ee’s on the way home. We even tried the famous Buc-ee’s brisket sandwich. It did not disappoint. We were just back in Lexington when Aunt Millie called to say Baby Ginsu’s ashes were ready to come home. We swung by to collect her, and now Big Girl is back home. Also, I take heart in having all the information from both vets that confirm she was in a terrible state and euthanasia was the right thing, the humane thing, to end her suffering. I would never want her to suffer. Meanwhile, seeing mom in the sun smiling and eating brisket was a great reminder that with great love comes great loss and grief. This is the way of things, and it is worth it, no matter how much it hurts.
