I’ve had an awesome week. Nothing in particular has happened. No winning lottery ticket (I don’t play). No promotion at work (pfffttt as if). No exhibit invitations (nobody knows me). There’s nothing spectacular to which I can point my finger and say ‘this thing made this a great week.’ I would be wrong to point out only one thing this week because, the fact is, there’s a laundry list of reasons why this was a great week. I physically felt really good all week. I was surrounded by people who made me laugh – and laugh hard – every day. I shared multiple meals with multiple people whom I love and adore beyond measure. I spent good time with my parents and was able to help them. I saw, and laughed with, several colleagues I don’t get to see very often. I had some extremely meaningful conversations. The UK Wildcats won their first game of the NCAA tourney. And, hey, it’s March Madness and that’s always an exciting time. St. Patrick’s Day was yesterday and it was fun even if I couldn’t get a Guinness. I got a lot done at work (always puts me in a good mood). The weather has been nothing short of perfect. They don’t say ‘Heaven is a Kentucky kind of place’ for nothing. My peach trees have gorgeous, fragrant blooms. The car works great. My house smells good. I slept well, and more importantly, I woke up (albeit late because of last night’s UK game). Jordan Smith’s record was released (I don’t like it but I’m happy for him all the same). I didn’t get a speeding ticket. I’m able to pay my bills. All five senses work. There’s food in the house. There are clothes on my back. And Wally, one of the world’s most adorable dogs, greets me at the back door every day and makes me feel loved. I’ve had an awesome week.
