Point Pleasant

From the amphitheatre built by the Ohio River at Point Pleasant, West Virginia, you can see the bridge to the far left that replaced the fated Silver Bridge that collapsed in 1967 just before Christmas, killing 46 people. It was located very close to where I was standing, nearer the railroad bridge to the right. Of course, legend has it Mothman had appeared a few months earlier to warn residents of the impending doom and was never seen again. You can decide for yourself what’s true about that, but what’s true for me is that Point Pleasant is a lovely little river town, and I hope those 46 families found some peace.
