My friend Hannah Gibson dropped by the office to show off her new man. His name is Ki, short for Kaw-liga, and those familiar with Hank Williams will immediately understand the name’s origin. Kaw-Liga is a Newfie (a new term to me), short for Newfoundland Dog. He’s only eleven months old and already comes to my hip. His top weight will come in about 150 pounds. One colleague had beat me to the first petting in the lobby, and when I returned with my phone/camera, the entire first floor had descended on Hannah and Kaw-Liga. It’s safe to say they made everyone’s Friday, but they mostly made mine because I got puppy kisses and Hannah hugs.
