“A bottle of water can be $.50 cents at a supermarket, $2 at the gym, $3 at the movies, and $6 on a plane. Same water. Only thing that changed its value was the place. So the next time you feel your worth is nothing, maybe you’re at the wrong place.” ~ Kobi Simmons

bridging distance, space, and time

I love Duane Adams more every day, and we finally had a chance to have a good, long catch-up this evening. You might remember him from way, way back in 2012 when he took me to Ohio Renfaire. He’s also my Burning Man buddy, and I will be going in 2025 at his invitation, Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise. I wanted to go this year (in September), but I’m doing way too much travelling to make it happen without causing a great deal of anxiety that I don’t need. One must prepare thoroughly to make it a successful trip, which takes careful planning. It’s one of the most spectacular events on the planet, giving me something to look forward to after the thesis. It will be my reward for finishing a long, hard haul of a master’s degree. If you don’t know much about Burning Man, follow this link. I learned about it many years ago through Trey Ratcliff’s photography. Duane is one of my closest friends, and no matter how long between being in physical proximity to each other, we pick right up where we left off as if no time has passed. That’s love.
