just milling around

I had not been downtown on the weekend in a long time until last Saturday. I gotta say that downtown Lexington, Kentucky is hopping. Short Street between Broadway and Lime and the blocks that connect are brilliant with lights and people and music and food. Everyone looked like they were having a blast. I saw military men in their dress blues with wives dressed to the hilt headed to McCarthy’s Irish bar. A horde of college kids were trying to look hip at the Rosebud Bar. A few drunks were ambling past Godfather’s Pizza. People on scooters, people on foot, people in cars. It was really wonderful to be out in the world again. It felt like the most normal moment of the last two years.
