“A grateful heart is like deep roots… it allows blessings to grow.” ~ Unknown

long time ago

This day has been a bit of a roller coaster. I got up to go to the office, but couldn’t stop coughing. So I worked from home until I could see the doctor. The good news is I don’t have pneumonia. The bad news is my body is still kinda sick. I got some different drugs and should start feeling better soon. Meanwhile, I had a series of very important conversations throughout the morning, including with our beloved nurse Roberta Taylor, whom you first met back in 2024. It was the first time we’d seen each other since Shero passed. As usual, Roberta was the light I needed in my life today. She gave me valuable grounding words that I needed to hear. Little did she know, Jon and Jen Reynolds, independent of each other, had been saying similarly significant things to me before I saw her. Cue all the deep feels and serious adulting. Later, when I saw a photo of my old friend Jon Durno with his parents and three kids at his 65th birthday, I thought about how wonderful it has been to have the circle of friends I have, and how fortunate I am to still have so many in my life like Jon.  In the same box where I found the pictures from Pam and Jim Bob’s wedding were these photos of the band on our East Coast tour in support of the Arista album. It had to be Kiya with the Polaroid camera because she’s not in most of the photos. Anyway, the photo below is Jon and me sandwiching our manager Richard Sarbin. Sarbin is how we met Jon and his former Roman Holliday bandmate, Brian Bonhomme (dude with his mouth open in the far-left photo above). We needed a band after the record was released, and Sarbin recommended Jon and Brian for the job. Jon actually made it into the video and stayed with us for a couple of years. He was a new dad at the time, and life was treating him pretty well. He has always been a beautiful, big-hearted human being, and I saw that again in his photo. I don’t get to see him much because he’s in the homeland (England), but I still love and adore him, even if we are a lot older than we were in these pictures, back when we were just kids. Even from far away, he can still put a smile on my face.
