come back, Shane
I met some great new (to me) people yesterday, like Shane Barton. Shane is ending his tenure with CEDIK, recently renamed Blueprint Kentucky, part of the College of Ag. He was the Coordinator of Downtown Revitalization, which meant we had lots to talk about, but he’s about to become the something something for his hometown of something, Virginia. I am so terrible with names. Basically, he’s going to help his hometown be great. He had done a lot of work for the Appalachian Center as the program coordinator, so it was a time to celebrate and thank him before he moves on to his next chapter. Dr. Julie Zimmerman, below, I had met many years ago when she came to the Nunn Center for some digitization help. Part of Community and Leadership Development also in the College of Ag, she was being honored as an affiliated faculty member in Rural Sociology. We had a great conversation about rural people affected by extreme weather events, like the West Liberty tornado. We’ve got things cooking in that arena now, and I’m super excited about it. She’s really enthusiastic and joyful, just like Shane. My people – I love them so, no matter where on the journey I meet them.
