It’s been an unexpected week. Mom suddenly fell ill an hour after we left Sharon at the airport Sunday. We went to UK’s ER where she was admitted with pneumonia and sepsis. She remained in a private room in the ER until very early this morning, when she was moved to a room on another floor. She’s some better, but she’s there for the foreseeable future, unfortunately. She’s got the UK GP, pulmonology, and infectious disease teams all trying to find the proper antibiotic cocktail to make her right as rain again. Her spirits are pretty good. I can’t say enough great things about the staff, nurses and doctors at UK. They really are superb at what they do, and they’re trying very hard to fix this problem resulting from a long-term underlying condition. I’m confident this is just a bump in the road, but the dogs and I sure miss her being at home.
