bees knees

The sun was just rising when I let the dogs out this morning. As I was making my coffee, I looked out the window at Wally’s grave and saw a beautiful bush of white flowers. They weren’t there yesterday. Later, I went out to have a better look. A mass of White Heath Aster, categorized as a weed in Kentucky, had bloomed overnight. In the dawning light, it was otherworldly. It wasn’t lost on me that they were as white as Wally had been, and it filled my heart with love. The bees were having a virtual smorgasbord of nectar goodness, too, and that made me happy as well. The ag professionals might call it a weed, but me and the bees think otherwise.
