“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.” ~ Johnny Cash

I woke up with another nasty headache. I’ve been getting them pretty frequently again in the last few months. Today, however, Tammy Jo, a Masseuse by trade, was on hand. She has performed a number of modalities in her 25 year career, and she’s currently a practitioner of the Trager method. This is less a robust massage and more a movement of muscle, bone, and facia of the affected area. For my headaches, for example, she worked on the actual source of the pain; not my head but the muscles running from my shoulder blades up my neck and into my head. Tammy Jo fixed my headache so I could actually function, and I went to work. I left her working to relieve Stacy’s tensions. Whats so amazing about Tammy Jo isn’t her massage skills, although she has them, but it’s her giving spirit. It brought her joy to gift Stacy and I with healing. I’ve never met anyone like Tammy Jo who – no matter how bad she feels or how far she has to go – sees every single chance to help another as a blessing. I look at her and feel like I’m in the presence of someone who has reached a level of enlightenment that most of us only read about, let alone actually achieve. We don’t even come close. She is a gift in my life; a gift to this world. She is a blessing.
