We four original Happiness Gals gathered to bid farewell to 2023, one of the most conflicted, torturous years we have ever had as individuals (on the heels of an equally horrible 2022). Broken bones, surgeries, sketchy health, death, grief, tenuous finances, stress, and all the wrinkles and grey hair that come with ageing. Yet, here we are, thrilled to be with one another, looking only forward, never backwards, to better times, better days, better health, better waistlines. And if we stumble into another year like the ’22 ’23 double-punch, we’ll rustle up smiles because we know it’s temporary. That’s what today proved. It was just another episode that will pass, to paraphrase Erin. Here we are in what may be the very first Happiness gathering way back in February 2012. We’re still looking up. I am eternally grateful for these women, more than they will ever know. Here’s to a booming 2024 for all of us.
