“The older I get, the more I see that peace is priceless, kindness always matters, and a quiet, ordinary life is truly sacred.” ~ Unknown
Part two of yesterday’s social extravaganza features Reinette Jones and Kathy Schifflett. Listen, these two ladies are some of the finest people I have ever known. I’ve probably said it before, but it bears repeating. They have called and texted to check up on me, and yesterday, they showed up with flowers, sweet treats, and hugs, and then stayed to visit with me like people used to visit with one another 30 and 40 years ago. I was transported in the best possible way. I wouldn’t trade those two hours with them for any amount of money, and frankly, if they’d stayed another two hours, we still would have had plenty to talk about. As a bonus, Lord Basil decided he was in love with Reinette. Not like he’s in love with Auntie Jen Bartlett’s arm, but true love. (with Jen, he becomes Sir Humpsalot) I swear, I think if they had offered to take him home, he would have gone and not looked back. He loooooooooves Reinette. And what’s not to love about her or Kathy? They are as honest as the day is long, exceptional listeners, shining examples of true hearts, and absolutely the best of us. I won the lottery the day we became friends, and I’m looking forward to growing old with them. Balm for my soul.
