I had a powerful lunch conversation with Timi Reedy, Ann Kingsolver, and Jed DeBruin. There were good laughs, and I was lucky to catch Ann having a hearty howl, but there was a lot of deep, meaningful, profound talk that warmed my heart and gave me hope for this turbulent time we’re living through. What a blessing the Appalachian Studies Association is for so many, myself included. No curse words necessary.
