Clemons Fork

Travel through mountains usually follows water routes. The water became clearer as we neared Camp Robinson. I remarked to Irwin how clean the water looked, and he informed me that Clemons Fork, which runs in front of the camp, is one of the five cleanest water sources east of the Mississippi. I believe he said it is tested yearly, or if I’m wrong, it’s tested quite often to ensure it remains as pristine as possible. You don’t often see clear running waters like this in Eastern Kentucky anymore unless you get close to the head of a holler. The way the mountains have been abused, first through extraction, then by her own people, it’s a wonder water runs at all. I was very heartened to learn Clemons Fork is an exception. I hope her good health and the practices thereof spread to other waters. Come summer, I want to dip my feet in Clemons Fork until they turn to prunes.
