In the time it took me to make these snaps of tonight’s beautiful sunset/moon rise and walk to the back of the house, the power came on. Whoops galore could be heard up and down the street after 50.25 hours in the dark and cold. It happened just as mom pulled up in the drive from having gone across town to Aunt Lois’ to do my laundry because I was out of clean pants, and I was preparing to get more gas to get us through the night. By the way, I learned that the 78 mph wind gust recorded in Friday’s storm was a record. I’m close enough to the airport where that was recorded that I’m willing to bet that’s when I saw my fir tree double over. It was wicked – and I feel very lucky. I’m hoping KU is about to get everyone online soon. I’m not the only one with an elder who needs heat. Also, blessings to the linemen out there working day and night to put us back together. They earn their money.
