I don’t know this young man’s name, but I think of him as the Mayor of Luckenbach, Texas. He was running things in the dance hall and holding down a few picnic tables as he mingled with guests. So, yea, I went to Luckenbach, Texas. I didn’t see Willie and Waylon (except in pictures on the wall), but I saw plenty of the boys, lots in cowboy hats, a few on motorcycles, and all of them with cold beer. This was the end of an extremely hot, action packed day of architectural wonder across the hill country of Texas. I made new friends along the way, and had loads of interesting conversations. Also, it’s clear that Luckenbach is cooler than the song makes it out to be.
