“As far as I can tell, it’s just about letting the universe know what you want and then working toward it while letting go of how it comes to pass.” ~ Jim Carrey

I’ve made some new friends at the Vernacular Architecture Forum’s conference but none as cool as Rick Herman, retired Navy nuke sub dude, Milwaukee resident, builder of ukuleles, and HP enthusiast. He makes his own shellac for heaven’s sake. Rick and I connected in the Hill Country, shared a BBQ meal in Luckenbach, and said so long (not goodbye) at this evening’s closing banquet where we were treated to tamales and traditional dancing. He reminds me so much of Jerry Fanning in how quietly smart and humble he is that I had to stop myself from calling him Jerry a number of times. Did I mention Rick saw Hendrix play in Central Park in the 1960s, and caught The Doors and Simon and Garfunkel?  Oh yea, we had a lot to talk about and I look forward to more great conversations in the future.
