“I love you. You’re probably thinking, “You don’t even know me.” But if people can hate for no reason, I can love.” ~ Tiny Buddha⠀

delivery

Catherine Brereton loves to bake so when the quarantine came around, and she baked and ate all she and her family could, she started spinning “the wheel.” Once a week one lucky friend gets a cake or pie or some other scrumptious delight from Catherine’s kitchen. It’s a great idea, really, for many reasons. This week, Sarah Connelly Vaughn won the exquisite coconut cake you see here, but rather than accept it, she asked Catherine to bring it me and my folks for Memorial Day. I’m not sure what I did to deserve such kindness. Perhaps it’s mom and dad’s military service. Perhaps Sarah’s diabetic. Or perhaps Sarah knows what a tough couple of months we’ve had with dad’s continual illnesses amid a pandemic. (She’s all too familiar with elder care issues) Whatever her reasons, my folks and I sure appreciate Sarah’s thoughtfulness. We loved the cake and I especially enjoyed the home delivery from two friends (Catherine and Susan) I love and cherish. It was a wonderful day indeed.
