Earlier in the month, when Judy Sackett and I were rambling around downtown, we rambled into the Lexington Tourism Center. I found a pamphlet on Religious Sites in the Bluegrass. Until then, I thought the Cane Ridge Meeting House was the only remaining log church structure in the state. Turns out, the Old Mud Meeting House just outside of Harrodsburg is still standing. One has to contact the Harrodsburg Historical Society to set up a visit which doesn’t lend itself to my kind of adventure. Before we shuttled off to Shakertown last Saturday, Stacy and I rummaged through Mercer County until we found the Old Mud House. It’s in a gorgeous location, though it’s held hostage by a fence. I’m definitely calling the Historical Society for a real visit.
