Dad always enjoyed Veteran’s Day because he gave talks at Morgan County High School, trying to inspire teens and help them understand the sacrifices many military men and women make. There aren’t many people with parents who were both veterans, but I am one of the lucky few. Both intended to make careers in the Army, but circumstances dictated otherwise. I would have been okay as an Army brat, as it were, but I am eternally grateful that they raised me in Morgan County in a stable environment surrounded by friends and family. My parents really are America’s best – as veterans, as parents, as human beings.
