“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” ~ Unknown

William, MD

Thanksgiving seemed especially youthful this year, maybe because so many of us are either graduating this year or soon will be. For instance, junior William Marshall is considering medical school and engineering. I know someone who has done great things with both, so I was excited to hear his ideas. His voice had dropped dramatically since we last talked, which caused a “wow” moment for me, in a good way. It’s so interesting how our bodies change over a relatively short period of time. I expect he will do remarkable things. Marcie Moore was recently accepted to UK and will study nursing, partly because of the care she saw Dad receive. That makes my heart swell, and I know Dad would be thrilled. And finally, finally, finally I will not be the only Wildcat in the family. No one but me studied there. After decades of The Terrys being devoted University of Kentucky Wildcat fans, at last, I will not be alone in the Wildcat Den. I might be the only person more excited about it than Macie, and she’s pretty excited.

John Anthony, filmmaker

Junior John Anthony Volz has filmmaking in his sights. I didn’t get to talk to him as long as I would have liked, but knowing he’s got his eyes set on the creative arts tickled me.  I look forward to future conversations about it. His dad, Sean, had me cracking up when he showed me a TurKraken (a take on the TurDuckin). On the other hand, Lyndsay Stigall did not show me a TurKraken. Instead, she will, like Macie, graduate in May and go on to Morehead State, where she’ll study sonography. Her brother Logan is already working his way toward an MD. This generation is exciting, and I’m so proud of them.
