Let’s trade in all our judging for appreciating.
Let’s lay down our righteousness and just be together.
~ Ram Dass

Lance has been dead two years today. This morning I found myself being short tempered about stupid (I even called them stupid) decisions at work that I have absolutely no chance of changing. I’m not, however, without choices Lance would have reminded. I fact I know exactly what he would tell me to do (because he did long before he died). He was a man who lived by his terms, no one else’s. How I admired that, and his ability to turn away creature comforts, even certain necessities, for a kind of freedom that most of us would never be willing to pay for, let alone even realize we’re missing. But somebody has to pay for the outhouse, and that somebody is me. That, and a home, are luxuries I’m not ready to part with. The thing I love about Ram Dass and other inspirational people is that their wisdom seems to find me when I need to hear it most.  Today was one of those days and I am eternally grateful for their words.

…And then there’s our latest contest entry. This high-flying portal from Jamie Adkins cracked me up. Be careful where you stand.
