I can’t confirm that Lafferty Hall was designed by architect Ernst Johnson, but even if I’m wrong, in so many respects, it looks like it was, so until someone tells me otherwise, I’m going to work off the premise that it was designed by Johnson. The thing I admire most about the Johnson-designed buildings around campus, at least the ones that still exist, is the subtle brickwork he often employed. Take, for example, Lafferty Hall. These lighting pillars on the east side are one of the more extravagant features, and the beautiful light we had yesterday made them all the more striking against the subtle brick lines. Oh, I do love a nice brick building, and thankfully, they haven’t torn this one down yet.
