Sonja “Mema” Herron Keck had to leave this mortal coil yesterday. As her daughter, BFF Robin Jackson said, “She had a fast out and a soft landing.” That Harvest Moon last night made for a beautiful exit. She was an energetic spitfire who cooked constantly, loved her family and friends fiercely, had an incredible sense of humor, and the spirit of a 25-year-old. You’d never know she was in her 80s. She also raised great children, doted on her grandchildren, and relished her great-grandchildren. I feel beyond fortunate to know and love most of them, and I’m especially grateful to have been in Sonja’s company. A life well lived.
