“If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

big banana

I like the truck. It reminds me of my Papaw Adams’ work truck. Though it wasn’t this yellow or quite this old, the feeling is similar. He was a hoot, Papaw. He and his sister Edna, whom I called Banana, were excellent musicians. (you’ve met her great-granddaughter Lori here) I have his banjo and guitar. He played old-style clawhammer banjo, and I wish he had played more than he did when he was living. The older he got, the less he played. He drove a grader for the State Highway Department, and back in the 1960s and 1970s when I was coming up, many country roads in Morgan County were still gravel or just plain dirt, keeping him busy year-round. A whiff of gasoline sends me right back to that old truck covered in grease, black oil, and backroad dirt. Good memories indeed.
